My wife's family comes from Amdur. Their name was LYASS, where the LY sound was pronounced as a single letter. I will try to find out the names of other family members that came over with them. One part of the family came over in the 1800s, but I will have to find out if it was the Lyass side. As soon as they got here, the name was changed to Levine, pronounced Le Vine.
