Horodenka, 1992

Dr. Benjamin Solomowitz and his wife visited Horodenka and took these pictures in 1992.

The Great Synagogue

The Great Synagogue, View Toward the Right

These two photos are of the facade of "The Great Synagogue," which is on Rynkova Street. In the photo on the right an extension has been added to the building (the two story structure with the rectangular windows). The building is now a sports center. Dr. Solomowitz and his wife were unable to gain entry to the building.

Horodenka Cemetery, Headstones

This photo shows two headstones from the cemetery. The headstones were about 2 1/2 feet high and were sinking into the ground. The shape of the stones was typical of stones in the cemetery: a rectangle with a triangular top. The cemetery is located on Kotsiubinsk Street, behind the Catholic Cemetery. Dr. Solomowitz said that he saw about 50 stones.
