In the large photograph (below) my zaida aged 58 in 1936. Rev Isaac Jacob Frank, 2nd row from the front, no.6 from the left seemed very smug and spruced up for the occasion donning his oversized homburg and double-breasted suit at the Second Hebrew Teachers conference on the 5th January, Cape Town. Certainly fashion conscious, a bit more money than back in December 1924 when my late father Solly Frank celebrated his barmitzvah barefooted. My dad related that his father just could not afford to buy him shoes in the summer of 1924 three years after they landed in CT.

I wish to know who were all those scholarly looking Litvak gentleman. Hopefully some Litvak grandchildren could provide the answers? Was the conference in the old Zionist hall in the Gardens?

And the postcard photograph (right) of the late Rav Kassel in 1924 with the name Levitt written in Yiddish and date of brith milah or briss, the rest I cannot make out.
