About Robert Conyer

Robert Conyer (1909 - 1970) was born in what was then the Cape Colony. His mother was born in Scotland. His father was born in Poland but was naturalised in the UK.  Both Robert’s parents died when he was still in his teens.

Robert had graduated with a BSc and was studying medicine when lack of finances forced him to abandon his studies. He found work in the Cape Traffic Department, where he rose to the position of Chief Traffic Officer. He retired in 1964.
