Community Book Community Book The book served the Elected civil leaders of the Jewish community in Bocki in 1720-1817. Some documents were copied into it from other books of the community (court book, bookkeeping etc) , and from the older book of the community leaders. Oldest record in it is from April 1714. The Original book is in the Central Archives of Historical Records in Warsaw. It is a Hebrew and Polish manuscript, bound in leather, sized 190x300x30 mm, holds 256 pages, 97 of them are empty. 159 pages contain text. About 15 pages are in Polish, 15 are part Hebrew and part Polish and about 130 pages are in Hebrew that contains religious terms, and Aramaic and Yiddish words. The pinkas of the Jewish commune in Boćki contains the minutes concerning electing local authorities, records referring to financial, economic, tax, religious and judicial matters, and ritual slaughter. It is a unique surce to study the life of the community. A full Hebrew version of the manuscript will be done until end of June 2012 in MSWord format. Translation to English will take more time. The translation of the index will be done by July 2012.
