October, 2008: Symcha Joel Szczerb is kneeling in the front row, second player from the left. His first cousin, son of his father's brother Naftula Szczerb, is kneeling in the front row, fourth player from the right; the cousin's first name is not known. Both players on the Vengrov team are from the nearby town of Sokolov Podlaski. They have been identified by Symcha's great-niece, Marla Cohen.
