The Donskoi Family

The original family name was Donskoi and it was changed to Donsky and then to Danish in the US. My Father –in-law was Max D Danish, a founder of the ILGWU (famous union in the US), editor of it's first journal Justice and a friend and associate of David Dubinsky (also a famous Russian emigre). The union was a labor union, which was instrumental in organizing the underpaid and overworked sweatshop workers. It is still around now known as UNITE. Unfortunately the sweatshops are still around too. I have a photo of Max Danish and David Dubinsky meeting President Franklin Roosevelt at the White House. I think that after being oppressed by the Czar for so long, many Jews worked for social justice and especially if they saw it needed in the US.
