Leah Grinovezer Golan

Return to "Skala Pioneers and Emigrés in Israel"

Leah Grinovezer Golan was born in Skala in 1909, the daughter of Malka Wiesenthal and Mechal Grinovezer. In 1935, she wrote to her cousin Shraga Gottesfeld, who had made aliyah the year before, and asked him to help her to come to Palestine. Shraga paid for Leah’s ticket. When she arrived, he was living with several young men. Leah was very religious and refused to share quarters with strange men, so Shraga found a family with whom she could live. Leah met and married Zev (Gullakhoy) Golan that same year. They lived and died in Haifa.
