Chapter 4

house 10

We pass some houses where Jewish families lived, but unfortunately I don’t know their names.

house 11

house 12

house 13

house 14

house 15

This house used to be a bank, run by a Jewish director.

David Lanesman from Israel wrote me:

It belonged to my great grandfather David Mehl the banker and my grandmother was Sonia Mehl who moved to South Africa in 1920s. The eldest son of David Mehl was Tom who also immigrated to South Africa. David Mehl was murdered during the pogrom and most of his siblings were murdered by the Nazis or colloborators.

And so,
we finish our tour through Jewish Seduva by viewing this house. It is to be found near house 6 (in chapter 3) on the corner of the Sporto gatve and the Veriskiu gatve.
