Marlene Saul Englander, U.S.A.

Marlene:

My mother (Hinda Zarkey Saul / Hinda Zarchaite) lived in Seduva from 1935-1937 with her Aunt and Uncle (Goda Bardon/ Goda Kagan Bardoniene and Samuel Bardon) and their daughter Yvette Bardon/ Yvette Bardoniete.  She came to the United States with them in 1937.  From 1937 until 1940 she corresponded with one of Seduva's pharmacists, Nochum Berman/ Nochumas Bermanus. Nochum was born in 1913 and his parents' names were Faiva and Freida.

Hinda passport is my mother's passport picture, from 1937

Since my mother lived in Seduva only for a few years while she attended middle school, most of the people she knew were fellow students (Lola Melman/ Lola Melmaniete (her mother was a dentist) and Elke Friedlander/ Elke Friedlanderite, to name two) or people who were friends of her Aunt Goda Bardon, the pharmacist. The pharmacy's name was Noja Aptieka.

About Nochum Berman: we are fairly sure he and his parents were all killed in 1941, but we think he married and had a child, both of whom survived. If anyone knows anything about this family, or has any ideas of how I could find out about them, I would be most appreciative.

Remark from Dora Boom:

Through Nava Shulkin I came across the name Yoddel Friedlander, born 1897 and Rachel Friedlander, born 1901 (?) and their daughter Suchka, born 1927. They lived in Seduva. Are these people related to Elke Friedlander?
