(e–mail from Eliot Matz, December 20, 2012)

My father had been very interested in his family history, and we interviewed a cousin in 1969 who remembered Rumshishok and many names and dates. I visited Rumsiskes in 1988 with my mother, and we saw the lake that had flooded the original site of the town, as well as the area where the Jews of the town were massacred in 1941. In about 2004 I transferred the family information to family tree software and posted some info on the Internet. Since then, contact with other branches of the family have resulted in much more information.

In October, I went to Israel for the first time in 35 years. I had arranged a meeting of 3rd and 4th cousins whom I had never met, and most of whom had not met each other, and [sic] a home in Jerusalem. One attendee videoed the occasion, and edited into an impressive 10–minute short film, which is posted [also] on Youtube at http://youtu.be/_CqwGoSA75Q
