FAMILY MOSHENBERG: Jan-Eric WESTERBERG responded to Ana Nuta because she send a letter to his mother Regina Riwka WESTERBERG (nee FESTENBERG) who signed testimony from her mother Helena MOSHENBERG who was born in Plonsk and was murdered in Auschwitz in the Shoah. Her father Zajnvel FESTENBERG, and her 1st. husband Mendel GOLDSTEIN were murdered in the Shoah too. She was a survivor from Auschwitz Camp, but when the Russians were near she and her younger sister Cesia they were transported to Belgen Belsen Camp. Regina and her sister arrived in Sweden at the age of 27 by the Red Cross Ambulance Bus. They were more dead than alive: on arrival to Sweden, Regina weighed 27 kgs. She regained her health quickly but not her sister. Cesia had caught tuberculosis and one of her lungs was badly damaged. She was moved to TB- Hospital in a forest near the city of Norrkoping. Regina wrote letters to members of her family and her aunt in Canada. Her maternal grandfather decided to stay in Poland. His three sisters had already emigrated, one to Canada, one to Argentina and one to Palestine. The aunt with whom Regina was in contact is which went to Canada. When Cesia finally released from Hospital, the doctors warned her that she must not stay in the city for the summer. The polluted air was dangerous for her. They needed a place in the country for her to stay. That’s how Regina became a lodger in her future mother in law, and met Fredrik Westerberg in 1947, they got engaged in the summer of 1948, married in 1949, and Jan-Eric , who wrote to Ana Nuta, was born in Sep.1950. They all lived in the same house. Her sister Cesia Festenberg was married Nils Nilsson and had a daughter Monika from the same age than Jan-Eric. When he was seven years old, his little sister was born. Three weeks before Jan-Eric thirteenth birthday he moved to the city to start the secondary school. His mother, Regina, soon decided to buy a small apartment in the city. The relationship of his parents had deteriorated so the separation soon became permanent. In the summer of 1967 one of his cousins and Regina’s nephew came to visit them in Sweden and the next summer Jan-Eric was invited to Toronto and return to Toronto very often. His mother was 90 years old and she has a remarkably clear mind. His father Fredrik will be 92 years old and lives in the farmhouse. Jan-Eric was married Lena and they had three sons: Kristofer (b.1975), Jonatan (b.1977) and Simon (b.1980). This youngest son was married Karin and had one son, Mattis in 2007. Monica Nilsson was married Kurt. Jan-Eric send Ana many pictures to this web page. All they were from the party of the 90th.Birthday from his mother Regina.Regina knows Yaakov Moshenberg, who lives in Israel and signed many testimonies from his family.
