Rosa Plawner, née Cymberknopf, was born on November 3, 1922 in Petrikau (Piotrkow Trybunalski) near Lodz, in Poland. Rosa will turn 100 in November 2022. She survived the Holocaust and briefly found a new home in Pegnitz with her husband Felix Plawner; they lived in Pegnitz on Bahnhofstrasse 13 and Neuhoferweg 2 from 1946 to 1947/1948. Their daughter Hanna was born on May 17, 1947 in Bayreuth. The Plawners later moved to Fuerth and then to Nuernberg. The family finally found their new home in New Jersey, USA!
In June 2022, Hannah Plawner wrote that her mother was excited to learn of the Pegnitz exhibit. Her mother has fond memories of her years in Pegnitz and remembers many details, such as the name of her landlady on Bahnhofstrasse, Frau Schaefer, and the assistance given to the Survivors. Many of the members of the Jewish community who are mentioned in the exhibit were family members, and others remained friends once they resettled in the U.S. or Israel.
