  Emigration

Jews from Novoselitsa moved to many lands where there decedents live today. Some of the documents they left in their new homes can still be found.

Worker's Formerly Workmen's Circle Branch 498
Novoselitzer Progressive a Yiddish Branch that is no longer active

The following Documents were provided to The YIVO Institute for Jewish Studies by the Worker's Circle and are contained in RG 1400 Bund Archives, Box 189 . Due to a flood a few years ago no other documents remain unless descendants of members have them.

(at the present time these documents are in Yiddish I hope to have them translated and will post the translated versions when available)

Meeting Notice

In addition to Branch 498 of the Worker's (formerly Workmen's) Circle AKA Arbeter Ring there were two other Novoselitzer landsmenshaftn (hometown society of Jewish people) probably in New York The First Novoselitzer and the Independent Novoselitzer . At one point it was believed that records from these two organizations were being archived at the YIVO Institute in New York, that does not seem to be the case.

However the YIVO does have financial records and materials pertaining to relief work including card files and account sheets of relief recipients with their  their addresses from 1945 -1949 from  the United Novoselitzer Reliefe Society in collection RG 999. When Covid restrictions are removed these files will be available for researchers

The YIVO institute for Jewish Research is located at 15 W 16th St. New York NY 10011 , (212) 246-6080,  www.yivo.org, yivomail@yivo.cjh.org

There is also a book about Novoselitsa written by two immigrants to Venezuela , Jaime Segal and Abraham Sterental the book was written in Spanish but an English translation is available. I was able to download and read a PDF but cannot determine the copyright so I am reluctant to post it here you can find it on the web by typing the following into your search engine of choice Noveselitz-A-Town-A-History
