By 1898, the New York City death record requested the names of the decedents' parents. This was not always provided, as the person who gave the information about the decedent did not always know the parents' names. Nor is this information to be taken as entirely accurate, as the informant may have given incorrect information. In this case, the decedent Celia Schwartz is said to have been the daughter of Jacob and Pauline Weiss. Whether this is true is discussed here.
