Lodz Gymnasium Braude (abt 1934-36).
Photo taken during pre-military training that was part of the education
at the "second" Hebrew Gymnasium, established by Markus Braude.
The photo was given to Orit Lavi by the late Prof. Nathan Cytri (originally Cytrynowski,
whose parents were Hebrew teachers in Lodz, as was his grandfather).
Sewek Lewkowicz (later Lavi) is the man standing on the far left.
Prof. Cytri is the rightmost one standing. Most of these students were born in 1920-21.
[Photo submitted by Orit Lavi, daughter or Sewek Lewkowicz.]

Three Girls from Lodz -
Who are they?

This photo belonged to Tsirel (Celia) Frisch, who emigrated from Lodz to Paterson, New Jersey,
in 1914 with her husband Max and infant daughter. Her granddaughter, Elaine Farran,
recalls her talking about her friends/relatives, the "Hambergers" (does not know the connection).
These girls may also be "Rosenbergs," because the back of the postcard is addressed to:
Zigmund Rosenberg, 12 Spruce Street, Paterson, NJ.

Photo of a Stone Setting (unveiling) for Rosa (nee CYGER) KEMPNER,
taken in the New Lodz Cemetery, probably in late 1930's (likely 1938),
but possibly as early as 1926. (Click on photo for larger view.)
