Photo Album of the Brochsztajn
and Muzykant Families
of Ostrowiec Swietokrzyski and
Lodz
Malka
Brochsztajn was born on March 27, 1897, in Ostrowiec Swietokrzyski, to
Tzevi Brochsztajn and Channa Kalchstein, who were in the tailoring business
and very religious. Malka married Itzik David Muzykant, also of Ostrowiec
Swietokrzyski, and they moved to Lodz. She was one of six brothers and
four sisters, including Meilak (Mike), Laja (Lena), Sorreh (Sarah) and
Golda, all of whom emigrated to Chicago prior to World War II. The recipients
of the six photographs below were Sorreh and Golda.
Osher Brochsztajn,
born in 1909 in Ostrowiec Swietokrzyski, was the youngest of the ten Brochsztajn
siblings. He and his wife, Rajzla Zylberstajn, had at least two daughters.
One daughter, pictured below (bottom right), was born in 1938, and her
name remains unknown. A second daughter, Channa, was born on August 27,
1941, in the Lodz ghetto.
All family
members pictured in these six photographs were presumed lost in the Holocaust,
as were other Brochsztajn family members whose names were found in a Lodz
yizkor book.
