Dr. Leon Weintraub is a Holocaust survivor whose mother was born in Dobra. It was his passion to create a Place of Remembrance in Dobra (near Turek) for the Jewish population of this town, especially those who perished in the Holocaust. A large Jewish community for centuries, Dobra's Jewish residents had numbered more than 50% of the town's population. It was Leon Weintraub's vision to create a prominent place to commemorate the history of these people.
