Landsmanshaftn in New York
|
Some time ago, the American Jewish Historical Society
(AJHS) microfilmed the incorporation records in New York County (1848 to 1920) of many Jewish organizations, including landsmanshaftn. Dr. Michael Feldberg, Director of AJHS, located at The Center for Jewish History,
15 West 16th Street, New York, NY 10011, kindly gave us permission to use copies of the incorporation records for the two Kupiskis landsmanshaftn for this website.
We are familiar with Chebra Hagudas Achim Anshe Kupishak
from the several burial plots in metropolitan New York cemeteries. The incorporation papers for this organization are dated in 1891. However, in looking through the microfilmed records at AJHS, I also discovered incorporation papers, dated 1901, for the Koopisker Young Men's Benevolent Association
. I have no information about this organization other than the incorporation papers. Please contact us
if you have any knowledge or family papers about either of the two Kupiskis landsmanshaftn.
