September 2012
Dear Kremenets District Friends,
On behalf of the Kremenets District Research Group's Board of
Directors, I wish you a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year. May it be
a New Year of Peace.
And, for this New Year, I have a special gift for you. I am
attaching to this message an updated version of our Concordance of Personal
Names and Town Names. The update includes more than 11,000 new entries from the
District Censuses for the following towns:
Belozerka, Katerinovka, Kremenets, Lanovtsy, Oleksinets, Ostrog, Pankovtsy, Pochayiv, Podbereztsy, Radyvyliv, Rakhmanov, Shumsk, Velikiye Berezhtsy, Vishnevets, Vyshgorodok, and Yampol.
The Censuses were taken in the years 1811-1818, and 1860-1875.
In addition, thanks to the quick work of Adam Bronstein, our
One-Step Searchable Concordance has been updated on our website. To search the
Concordance, go to: http://kehilalinks.jewishgen.org/Kremenets/web-pages/master-surnames.html
We have almost completed the Census translations and already have
begun translating new vital records for individual towns of the Kremenets
District. The new records take us to the eve of the Shoah. We are receiving
these vital records from the Central Archives for the History of the Jewish
People (at Hebrew University in Jerusalem). We need to raise additional funds
to acquire these records from the Central Archives and get them translated.
One of our members, who wishes to be anonymous, has offered to
match your contributions dollar-for-dollar, up to $1,000. Please help us take
advantage of this very generous offer. We have a deadline of 1 December to
receive matching funds. So, please take a few minutes now to make your annual
donation to our Kremenets District work.
Make your donation to our Kremenets account at JRI-Poland.
Contributions to "Jewish Records Indexing - Poland" may be by check,
