Dear Kremenets District Friends,

After 12 years of work, I'm pleased to announce that 16,925 birth, marriage, divorce and death records for Kremenets and several nearby towns are searchable on the JRI-Poland website. Go to http://www.jri-poland.org/ and click on "Search / Database" the left side of the page. Then just fill out the search form. Here is a list of the records that have been posted a:

A couple of days ago I sent a message to our Kremenets District distribution list announcing the availability of the Kremenets birth records. If you missed that message, you can download the Births spreadsheet from the Kremenets Town Page on the Ukraine SIG Website:

http://www.jewishgen.org/ukraine/RES_collection.asp?id=741

The spreadsheet is in Excel 2007-2010 format (xlsx extension). If you have an earlier version of Excel you will need the free compatibility pack that Microsoft makes available on their website (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3).After

Don't forget to search the Kremenets One-Step Concordance. It is a master index to all the records we have translated to date. It is available on the Kremenets KehilaLinks website at:

http://kehilalinks.jewishgen.org/Kremenets/web-pages/master-surnames.html

We couldn't have done this without the generous donations of 83 of our Kremenetsers worldwide. (That's 18% of our membership.) They contributed the money that paid for these translations and made these records freely available to you. All of us owe our contributors a huge Thank You.

And, there is much more to come. We have received another 11,000 pages of records (both vital records and revision lists on DVDs) from the Central Archives. These contain another 25,000 to 35,000 records. They are in the translation queue. In a message later this week I'll describe these new records. Keep tuned.

The cost of translating the new records will be between $15,000 and $20,000.  Will you please join our contributor's list and help pay for translating the new records? You can make a tax-deductible donation to the Kremenets account at JRI-Poland (a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, please make your end-of-year donation today. All donations are tax-deductible in the US and Canada to the extent allowed by law. A donation of any amount will give you access to our KDRG Contributors website on Google where we post early releases of all our translations, long before they become freely available to the Jewish genealogical community.
