Faces of Mielec.
Submitted by Ken Fink
Photos taken from a dead German soldier during WWII. These photos, according to our family's 'story', were taken from the soldier who took the pictures, by my uncle, Jack Fink. Jack was born in 1911, and along with my father and his six siblings, was raised in the Polish village of Zaremby (about 200 miles from Mielec). My grandmother and all of her children were living in the United States by the start of the war. Jack returned as a soldier in the Canadian army (the US hadn't joined the war early enough for him). The captions for these photos are a translation of what the German soldier meticulously wrote on the back. I am not certain that these translations are accurate and am open to further suggestions.
