Austria
Hungary
: Chumalovo was in the Austro-Hungarian Empire until its
defeat in
WW1. The Hungarian State Of Maramoros was split. The northern and
central areas was given to the newly formed state of Czechoslovakia.
The southeastern area became a part of Romania.
Chumalovo is located in the lighter portion of this map between
vertical 45' and horizontal 45'. Look for Csomanfalva. Scroll to
the right and up. The shtetl is clearly next to the Terebla River. It
was interesting for me to note that my mother's extended family settled
all along the river from Siniver{Alsoszinever} south to Tereblya.
