Rabbi Shaye Grosz

Born in Keresztur, Rabbi Shaye Grosz is a great grandson (and was named after) Reb Shayele.  Rabbi Grosz’ mother was Malke Steiner - daughter of Avrohom Steiner - Reb Shayele’s son.  Rabbi Grosz wrote a book called From Keresztur to America.  The book is about 600 pages (in Hebrew) with photographs.  Born in Keresztur, he is a holocaust survivor.  In 1948 he came to America.  He was the first to go back to Hungary from America in 1964.  He worked on fixing the Ohel in the cemetery.  He goes to Keresztur every year for the Yahrzeit of Reb Shayele.  Now he estimates that between 600 - 800 people make the yearly trip.  Rabbi Grosz lives in Brooklyn, New York.
