RE: RESEARCH FOR THE KREMER FAMILY

According to the 1887 Family List of Birzai Jewish Community Kremer Lemakh ben Movsha was born about 1828 and died on the 4 of March 1898. His first child Eide listed in the Family List was born about 1874. So the family was registered in (belonged to) Birzai Jewish Community, but did not live in Birzai all time. According to the 1898 List of Families Living Out of Towns (the lists is in the Kaunas Regional Archives) Kremer Lemakh ben Movsha with his family lived in the manor Poshili in the Pabirze area (“volost”) from 1879 and he had 4 sons and 3 daughters. Before 1874 Lemakh Kremer married to Mera-Rivka b. about 1858. There is the birth record of their son Leizer registered in Pasvalys in 1894 in the archive.  ,

Picture on the left was taken in 1935 of my grandfather Avrom Ferber standing at his father-in-law Lemach Kremers' grave. There is also a picture of me at the same grave during my visit to Lithuania in 1994!
