Bielsk Podlaski Group or School Photo

This photo postcard of men and boys of Bielsk-Podliask was taken in Poland in 1931, prior to WWII. The boy in the top row on the left with the star above his head is Ephraim Schneider (a/k/a Szneider). His family, and most of the people in this photograph, perished. Ephraim, who was one of the first Zionists, went from Poland to Palestine to New York, where he lived until a ripe old age.

The note on the back of the photo translates to:
Left side of card:
This remembrance for my loving father
From your son
Berel Schneider
Bielsk, summer 1931

Right side of card:
Above such a sign * [meaning that an asterisk is drawn above him on the photo]
