Chapter 1

We will start our walk near the hospital (H on the map) on the corner of the L. Giros gatvé and the Darius ir Girėno gatvė

The hospital (H on the map) was to be  found  almost opposite the cemetery.

Doctor Markas Sreiberis worked here and in the beginning of his career, he and his wife lived there, also. Read here more about Sreiberis

At housenr. 11, lived Btsjomke. He traded in linen which he bought in villages around Pakruojis and which he sold in Siauliai.

We continue our walk to house number 9:

 

house 9; Geras Matelis (= Sher Mateis )

 

Local people called him Mendele. He sold pottery in Pakruojis and in the countryside. His means of transport was a horse and wagon. He liked to give children presents, e.g. cups and mugs
