MONUMENTS

This headstone is from the Ansky Expedition of 1912. It was reproduced by Salomon Yudovin in his Yiddishe Folks Ornament, Vitebsk, 1920. It is identified in the Table of Contents as being from Olyka. The inscription was tentatively translated in 2007 by Prof. Seth Wolitz as being: “Our teacher, the Rabbi, is buried here. The monument of the one who is a righteous man.”
