The widely acclaimed book "A Taste of the Past - The Daily Life and Cooking of a 19th Century Hungarian Jewish Homemaker" by András Koerner was published in 2004 by University Press of New England.
The book is an entertaining reconstruction of the daily life of the great-grandmother of the author who lived in Moson and is based on an unusually complete cache of letters, recipes, personal artifacts and eyewitness testimony.
Apart from the 85 authentic Jewish-Hungarian recipes, adapted for the modern cook, there are many delightful pen-and ink illustrations by the author depicting Jewish family life in Moson in the 19th century. Some of these drawings are shown here Mr. Koerner, who was born in Budapest, is an architect and also an enthusiastic cook.
