Recent Updates

Updates added in February 2004:

The following three stories were recently approved for this site by the author Josh Heilman from Canada. Josh was born and raised in Lubaczow, and fled Poland in August 1939.

  • "Fifty Years Ago" - Josh Heilman has written "Fifty Years Ago" - remembering the synagogue he and his family attended in Lubaczow, and the final destruction of that synagogue.

  • "Political Activities of the Jewish Community in Lubaczow" - The following story explains how Lipa, a young communist from Lubaczow, wanted to live the perfect life in Birobidzan. It was written by Lipa's cousin Joshua Heilman.

  • "The Cousins" - In this story Josh tells about the Reinfeld cousins and the success story of Joseph H. Reinfeld.

  • Unfortunately I am not able to update this website as often as I would like to. During the last two years I have visited Lubaczow twice - in May 2002 and in May 2003. On both occassions I have documented the Jewish cemetery in Lubaczow, and hope one day to get the around 1650 gravestones on the JewishGen Online Worldwide Burial Registry (JOWBR) website on JewishGen.
Some more of Josh Heilman's stories and some that I have written lately, will hopefully also be added to the website.
