This original photograph of the Jewish Cemetery in Lida was auctioned online in mid-2003

The reverse looks like this:

The uppermost line says "February 16"
On the lower left it says "Jewish Cemetery in Lida 1916"
The lower right appears to say "Her." , an abbreviation of unknown meaning.

Below are some closeups of various parts of the picture.

Apparently some of the gravestones were set in brick structures. If anyone can enlighten us about this practice, please email me.

Although the extreme enlargements of two of the stones seem fuzzy, intrepid volunteers Eliyahu Hershfeld and Udi Cain have been able to make out the family name Steinberg on the left & Mazvietsky on the right
