RITSCHER family


        The RITSCHER (also spelled RITSER or RICSER) family is a large family group in Körmend.  One major branch of this family was headed by Moses RITSCHER and his wife Roza/ Rozalia nee FRITZ.  The family of Cornelia ELKAN nee RITSCHER, daughter of Moses' and Roza's youngest son, Jozsef RITSCHER, moved to Hódmezővásárhely around 1905.  The complete story of Cornelia's family can be found on the Hódmezővásárhely Kehilalinks site.

    2)Vilmos RITSCHER (1823-1902) married Rosalia SCHREINER.  Rosalia SCHREINER is a member of the webmaster's family and the complete descendency chart can be found here
    2) Johanna RITSCHER (1827-?) married first Moricz SPITZBERGER (1826-?) in 1852, then Lazar NEUFELD (1804-?), a widower, in 1862.
    2) Zsigmond RITSCHER (1831-?) a hat merchant and furrier, married Amalia HOCHSINGER (1835-1932).
        3) Adolf RITSCHER (1858-1922) married Vilma BERGER (1866-1936) in 1886.

            4) Gizella BLAU (1880-?) married Miksa KRAUSZ (1872-?) in 1900.  Their surname was changed to KULCSAR. Gizella survived the Holocaust and lived at 41 Katona Jozsef after the war.
            4) Ferencz BLAU (1883?-?); surname changed to BALAZST in 1911.

            4) Janka BLAU (1885-?); surname changed to BALAZS in 1907; married Imre SZAKATS (1872-?) in 1917.
            4) Szeren BLAU (1886-1886; lived 5 days)
            4) Irma BLAU (1890-194?) married Victor EHRENGRUBER (1877-?) in 1912 in Budapest. Their surname was changed to ERDOS.
            4) Vilmos BLAU (1891-1891; lived 1 day)
            4) Gyozo BLAU (1892-1944; Mauthausen); surname changed to BALAZS; converted to Roman Catholicism.  He married his cousin Erzsebet BLAU (see below) and they and their two children lived in Vienna.

    2) Jozsef RITSCHER (1839-1913); a shoemaker, married Mari/Maria SPIEGEL (1846-1918) in 1868.
        3) Mano RITSCHER (1875-1944; Auschwitz)
        3) Cornelia/Nella/Nelly RITSCHER (1878?-1951) married Lajos ELKAN (1865-1920; Budapest), a widower with no children, in 1904.  Nelly married her second husband Gyula WALLENSTEIN (1882-1944; surname changed to VERMES) in 1927.
            4) Edit ELKAN (1906; Hódmezővásárhely-1965; Budapest) married Lajos ÓLAH (1897; Kunszentmarton- 1971).  He was a Catholic who had served in the Austrian military in WWI.
            4) Rudolf ELKAN (1907; Hódmezővásárhely-1942; labor battalion on the Russian front) married Ilona/Loni PORSZASZ (1907-?).

            4) Laszlo ELKAN (1910, Hódmezővásárhely-?).  He moved to Paris and changed his name to Lucien HERVE.
