On the corner of Zsido (Jewish) (today Raoul Wallenberg) and Fö (Main) Streets, is the site of the synagogue used by non-Hasidic Jews. It was torn down after WWII and replaced with the above building.

(The Great Synagogue)

The Great Beis Hamedrish synagogue was the religious center for the Munkács Hasidic community. Rabbi SPIRA prayed here twice a year: on the Shabbat before Pesach and after Rosh Hashana.

The former Beis Hamedrish synagogue building was being used as a food depot for the Ukrainian Army.
