Death Certificates as Documentation for Lyakhovichi History Lechovicher Death Certificates in Multiple Jurisdictions

Deciphering Death Certificate Information | |
 Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio
Rabbi Benjamin Aduchowsky traveled to his married daughter in Cleveland Ohio in 1906, and died at her home in 1909. The death certificate states "Russia"as birthplace - you have to look to the immigration record to see a statement of "Lechowitz." His reported age to the government is now younger than when he immigrated, and the informant would like you to think that Benjamin's father who never emigrated, was called "Willie". But we now have enough information to look for a Wolf (Welvel) Aduchowsky of Lyakhovichi who was already married in the 1850s. And in fact Benjamin and his father can be found in the 1874 List of Males of Lyakhovichi |
Houston, Harris County, Texas (with residence and burial in Mexico City)
Kiva Kantorovich was living in Mexico City but visiting in Houston Texas when he died in 1975. His parents Nathan Kantorovich and Rachel Gitlin were part of the large outflow of Lechovichers to the Caribbean, and to Central and South America in the 1920s and 1930s. As in the previous death certificate, the record does not state a particular town of birth but his temporary sojourns across the Mexican border to the US are documented with that information. |
Lechovicher Death Certificates in Multiple Jurisdictions
Ordered alphabetically under the place of death by Deborah Glassman, copyright 2008 and 2009
This page is for Lechovichers (those born in Lyakhovichi) and their immediate families who were buried in places other than the New York City area official Lechovicher society plots. If you have info on your family members who were buried in a Workman Circle's burial site not associated with a Lyakhovichi lodge or if you have details on their burial in a family plot anywhere in the area, or if your family like mine, never lived in New York City and are buried elsewhere, please share that info here.

Death Certs - Multiple Jurisdictions
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Sarah (Slonimsky) Shane lived in Philadelphia when she died in 1912. Her husband had arrived in 1888 and her father and stepmother had been in the country from around the same year. We can now look for the records of Kalman and Bessie Slominsky who had to have been married by around 1870.
Death Certificate Information might be filled in differently for one family member than another
Four Years Earlier - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Kalman Slonimsky died at the end of 1907 just a few years before his daughter Sarah whose death certificate is shown above, and in the same place. His family knew his father's name and put it on his tombstone but the spaces for information related to parents is left blank on his form.
