On the attic of the house on this photo, lists were found containing the registration of the possessions belonging to the murdered Jewish families of Kurkliai and forms and letters relating to the auction of those goods and relating to Jewish properties after the massacre.
The goods of the Jewish families were sold by auction.
In a letter, dated 23 November 1941, one could read, the goods of the Jews of Kurkliai were sold by auction for 29,447.27 Rubel. The money was not taken to the bank, yet.
One form, number 76376, dated 28 November 1941, states, 120 Reichsmark were taken of the amount of 29,447,27 Rubel.
Another form, number 76393, dated 12 December 1941, states, 203 Reichsmark and 80 Cents were taken from the amount of 29447,27 Rubel.
In a letter, dated 23 December 1941, URGENT, written by the chairman to the mayor of Ukmerge and surroundings, was asked what to do exactly with the properties of the murdered Jewish families. The chairman had already written a letter about this problem to the mayor in August 1941. The answer came on 27 December 1941: The citizens of Kurkliai got the permission to sign up for former Jewish property (houses, land) and they were advised to send the letter as soon as possible; 3 January 1942 was the final date of subscription.
According to list number 107, dated 12 April 1941,
made by the chief of police of the Kurkliai and Ukmerge district, there
were 9 Jewish families who kept a horse.
