Błażowa is included in the Kolbuszowa Region Research Group (KRRG). Shtetlach were interwoven together like a tapestry and the Jewish people of neighboring shtetlach linked by marriages, trade and marketing. They shared schools, cemeteries, kosher butchers, bakers and more. Smaller shtetlach registered their birth, marriages and death in a nearby larger shtetl. History and Geography:

  • In present day Poland Błażowa is in the Podkarpackie Województwo [ Province ],  Rzeszowski Powiat [ County ]. Błażowa  is the seat of the Gmina [ Rural Administrative District ] which includes the city and commune of Błażowa and the following villages / communities: Białka, Błażowa Dolna, Futoma, Kąkolówka, Lecka, Nowy Borek, Piatkowa.

Holocaust:

  • On 26 June 1941 the remaining Jews of Błażowa were forcibly moved to the 
    Rzeszów Ghetto.  They joined Jews from nearby villages and shared their fate. 
    Some were shot on the streets of Rzeszów, others deported to forced-labour   
    camps or shot in Glogów Forest or transported Belzec extermination camp
    (July 7 - 18 1942) where they were gassed on arrival.
