This website is dedicated to the families of Khotyn, including that of our maternal grandfather Kalman (Charles) Vaynshteyn (Weinstein), son of Schmuel (Samuel) , grandson of Moishe.

Khotyn, in the Chernivtsi oblast of Ukraine today, was the former district center of N Bessarabia , on the border with Podolia and Galicia.   In 1900 there were 9,291 Jewish inhabitants. It is located on the right, southwestern bank of the Dniester River.
