Podvisaker

Hershl Podvisaker

Of these photos, Jonathan Schaffer writes, “The first is of my great grandfather, Hershl Podvisaker. The second is of Hershl, along with his son, Itzic Elya. Hershl was presumed to have been killed in the Holocaust, whereas Itzic Elya made it to Argentina (he is incorrectly listed in the Sefer Horodenka as having been killed:  ’PODVISAKER, Hershl and his wife; his son Itsik-Eli with his family’).

“Itzic Elya and my late grandfather, Max, were reunited in 1967 in New York for my mother's wedding.  A photograph taken at the airport by a New York Post photographer is also attached.”
